Called the Vet this morning & he was doing good...but I couldn't leave work till around 230 today & it took me almost an hour to get there
He was unfortunately, being kept in their boarding area when I got there...Im assuming once they checked on him this morning & he was fully out of anethesia & doing well..walking & etc, they moved him to the boarding kennels...which are like, big kennels in a separate area from the clinic...Im not too happy that he was out there, after just having had surgery & all...but I understand...he's a big dog & I didn't realize he didn't/wouldn't need "ICU" type care this time. & I know this surgery is different then the last 2....But, It broke my heart, & made me mad! Who knows how long he was out there...in a cold kennel w/a big ole cone on & surrounded by other strange, loud, barking dogs that were there...so of course he was standing (I think) & barking & howling...& was when I got there (& for who knows how long before that) when he should have just been laying down resting
I got to talk to the Vet quickly (she was heading into another appt) & she said everything went well. She said what was causing the wound on the inside of his leg was a tiny end of the fishing line sticking out of the metal crimp (see pic, its the little millimeter of line sticking out of the crimp), that prolly started when the crimp had shifted & it was gouging into his Tibia. There was also some strange fibrous material wrapped around the line...that his body had produced? Im thinking his body was rejecting the foreign object!
Poor guy is shaved again...but he must be feeling good b/c he already jumped up on the couch, & I had to yell at him to get down...2 minutes later he tried to get on the couch & the loveseat! He's still gotta take it easy, which will be hard for him b/c Im sure he feels fine. Once he was settled on the floor on a dogbed, I left & met my sister her fam for dinner b/c its my nieces bday....he was fine while I was gone, he took awhile to get up when I got home though, he didn't greet me at the door
I just tried to get him to lay down to ice him & he's such a turkey, he hates getting iced! He layed for like 5 minutes, then just got up from where we were sitting on the floor & jumped up on the loveseat!! What can ya do?! He's snoozin now which is good...
Here he is before I left for dinner:
Re: Coopers home!!
I'm so glad he's home and being a little turd! Hopefully he heals fast!!
I can't believe how big and crazy looking that thing is they took out of him! Also, he doesn't look too thrilled to not be on the couch in that pic... lol
Thanks everyone! Im pretty happy/relieved to have him home too!!
HA! Little turd is right!!
I know! I was kind of surprised, but not....I mean, I didn't physically see the materials before the 1st surgery, but I have seen the crimps & stuff on his, & my patients xrays before. Its just weird to hold it in your hand!
HA! Yeah, he was maaaad at me! Of course, that didn't last....Im such a sucker! Right now Im laying on the floor & he's laying on the loveseat:
"Right now Im laying on the floor & he's laying on the loveseat:"
