s/o from "Theme Song" QOTD

I've started to try to replace some of my TV viewing with listening to music.  When I'm home alone, I need something on in the background b/c a completely silent house creeps me out a bit, especially when I'm alone.  However, this often gets me sucked into terrible daytime TV.

SO...

What songs/artists have you been into lately?

I've gone on an iTunes shopping spree & bought Adele, Dia Frampton,  Meiko, Lenka, and some classical stuff.  I'm open to other genres (especially dance-able stuff b/c Sprout's new favorite thing is dancing).

Also, because of the QOTD, I listened to my "soundtracks" all day yesterday.  Sprout especially enjoyed Mr. Wendel (Arrested Development).  :)

  • I've recently become quite obsessed with The Civil Wars. Highly recommend!

I'm also obsessed with Spotify - I love that I can basically listen to anything I want for freeeee!

  • Do you have cable? If so you should have music channels you can listen to on TV - we do Music Choice through FIOS but had the same channels when we had Comcast. No commercials!

  • I'm not really up on the new music scene - but can you play Pandora on your computer or TV?  I just throw the Vertical Horizon or Norah Jones channel on for background music and it plays all sorts of other music like that genre.  I can't believe that I lived so long without Pandora.... and now that I have my iPhone I can even listen to it in my car!

I do and I also have Pandora which I can stream on TV/the big speakers.

But I like building my own playlists better.

  • I use Pandora to find out what songs I want to download.

And I've also been listening to the Civil Wars lately.

Yes, I have several Pandora stations that I can stream on our "big speakers" (so, not on the computer meaning I can hear it if I'm in the kitchen or living room or whatever).  But I find Pandora plays like the same 15 songs over & over again which gets...old.

When my husband gets home we almost exclusively listen to Pandora until Sprout gets home, so I really do need to (a) find new artists to create new Pandora stations or (b) download new stuff
