challenge---making an OWL?
I'm making a Harry Potter Hogwarts acceptance letter for my sister since it's our birthday next month ("our birthday" = twins). I'm going to send her a box, so I thought making some sort of owl would be cute to go with the letter (Owl Post).
Does anybody know how to make an owl out of craft supplies? I've got time to hit Michael's before our birthday. I tried looking up how to do origami owls but I'm really, really bad at origami so anything including tape and glue etc... would be perfectly acceptable.
I'd just prefer it to be 3D and not [obviously] made out of paper bags or paper plates like a kindergardener made it....any ideas?

Re: challenge---making an OWL?
It's an idea, I just haven't done it since about third grade! But it can't be too hard if I did it under ten years old!
I take it you don't knit, crochet, or sew?
Barring that, I'd just buy a cute stuffed animal

Do you knit or sew or crochet? Plenty of owl projects out there for those crafts, and they're generally light (cheap to ship
.
You could use polymer clay to make a little owl charm/keychain/knick-knack. You could do the same type of thing with shrinky-dink paper- the printable stuff would be super easy as there are lots of cute owl graphics.
I made some of these for christmas, they are pretty small but you could easily blow up the pattern to make them bigger.

Hello , In the Rodent Revolution 2 swap, my partner requested something papercrafted for her part of the package. Cue me panicking a bit! What to do? What to make? Eep! And then while going through her wist, I caught sight of a cute little owl she had wisted (from someone here on Craftster!) Hmm ... after printing it out, using my craft knife to make pattern pieces, I then transferred the pattern onto thicker cardstock and cut those out. The cut outs became the "frame" for the strips of magazine that I cut out to make the little guy colorful.

Anyway, here he is.
