Poll: Front door or back door
First off, get your minds out of the gutter.[Poll]
Re: Poll: Front door or back door
ahahahaha
I voted front door. We only have one outside door right now, but when we lived in Texas our options were either front door or garage door. Generally people used the front door, unless we had the big garage door open, and then it didn't matter.
During summer, I have people come in through the garage door. I cannot take the chance of having any lizards (or at night the geckos) or frogs sneaking into the house when I open the door.
I forgot about the garage door option. I could go back & add it now, but I'm too lazy.
Almost all my ILs all have side doors in their houses & everyone goes in those, I don't even think my MILs front door opens (old door, swolen shut).
Recently, my ILs have quit coming to our front door & have started walking around the house to our back door. They have to walk around our house & go through a gate to get to it, so it's not like it's easier. It really bothers bothers me, which is silly, this is not a big deal. But it does.
that is really odd. do they park closer to the back door? have they said why they use it?
if our garage is open and my family is visiting they may use the garage door (which I would call the side door). Mostly because they park near it and it's also harder for my dad to walk far so I try to keep it easy for him.
Nope, they either park in the street (so well in front of the house) or in the driveway, but still in front of the house. Either way, they practically walk past the front door to get to the back door. I haven't asked why. With my ILs, it's never as easy as asking why they're doing something. This question would probably make someone cry. We're moving to Asia, it's not worth the battle.
People who come to my house often use the back door - especially if they park in the driveway (we have a long driveway and our backyard isn't fully gated).
People who only come over once in a while or are coming for the first time, use the front door.
I have a huge aversion to answering the front door. I wish everyone would just come around the back.
front or garage.
several of my family members have the long driveways, and we always use their back doors.
i think you should put a lock on the gate.

Back door most of the time, since most of the time we have people over it is for pool parties. It is habit for most of our friends even if it isn't for a pool party.
We joke that someone must be new if they actually use the front door!
I use your front door for the Christmas party, the back door for the other ones. I do not know why I do this since I usually end up in the backyard anyway.
Before we replaced our breezeway gate, it was only the half gate and so anyone could open it. My bff, mom, and IL would go that way. I always thought it was strange to me why they didn't go through the front door. Now that we have a high fence gate, everyone goes through the front door (the way I like it).
With that said, I grew up always using the garage door of people's home when they have it open and were expecting us over.
You can't get to our back door without hopping the fence so I think I'd be a bit ticked if someone knocked on my back door. Not to mention I would have probably already called 911.
Who does that
Ditto.
I can't imagine anyone parking in our driveway, then walking across our front grass to go through our (front) fence door to go all the way around the back of our whole house to access the back door. I think I would flip out if someone knocked on our back door! lol.
However, my ILs have a detached garage, and most people (close friends and family) go through the wrought iron side gate and enter through the back door since their driveway pretty much drives up directly to the back gate. We rarely go in through the front at their house.

And I haven't been reading about Oscar Wilde this afternoon.
with family, we use either the backdoor or side door b/c the front door is usually locked and the others stay unlocked. maybe it's the same with your ILs?
All doors stay locked in our house 100% of the time.
My dog goes nuts when someone comes to the front door. She absolutely loses her mind if someone goes to the back door. That's probably why it annoys me.
There is a lock on the gate, but we never lock it because we go through it daily (we park our cars back there).
