Blue mascara?

I accidentally picked up Royal Blue mascara at CVS.  Before I exchange it, I wanted to see if I should try it.  I have naturally blond hair, medium brown lashes. Green to hazel eyes. Fairly light skin. Is blue a color that would flatter me? I kow I could open it up and try it, but I don't want to try and return an open package.

Or is blue mascara just a fad that should have stayed in the 80s?

Like any good super hero, I'm using my alter ego to protect my identity. Goodbye Silver poster status!

Re: Blue mascara?

  • i liked the blue mascara i got at sephora (benefit bad gal) but i have almost black lashes and dark brown hair. i know that mascara is intended to make blue eyes look more blue not make lashes look blue. not sure how it would look on lighter lashes.

  • Ditto Cheeky -- your lashes are pretty light and it will be fairly obvious that you're wearing blue mascara -- which is not as obvious on folks with dark lashes. I'd return it.

  • I used to wear purple mascara (back when I was more fashionable).  It made my brown eyes look awesome. (I have dk brown eyes/hair & medium skin tone)

I would try it.  Were you trying to get black?  If so, I think that it would still give you dark lashes but maybe make your eyes pop.

Double check but I'm pretty sure CVS takes open makeup that you're not satisfied with.

  • I feel strongly that you should return the blue mascara. Just don't do it. Lashes should be natural colors, IMO...black, brown, blond...not blue ;-)
  • I've used blue mascara on my light lashes.  It stands out, in a good way.  I have blond lashes, green eyes and I would wear it with a navy/dark blue liner then beige/taupe shadow.  I always got compliments on how it made my eyes pop.  I say give it a try, it's not neon blue or electric blue.  And, if you got it at CVS it probs wasn't all that expensive.  What brand is it?  The classic cover girl pink tube mascara is the one I would get.

  • It sounds like you have really similar coloring to me, and I probably wouldn't try the blue mascara.  It might depend on what color your undertones are though (mine are red, so I think the blue mascara would make me look kind of zombie-ish).

  • I wouldn't wear blue mascara, however, I have definitely been known to sport blue eye shadow. I don't know, blue mascara just doesn't seem right to me.

But, I do believe in the freedom of expression. When you see what Lady GaGa wears, a little blue mascara seems small in comparison. So, I say that if you are feeling it and if it goes with your style, then go for it.
