How is it that we are surprised by dinner every day?
We really need to get back to meal planning on the menu board. It's been a couple weeks or so without doing it, and man it's stressful.
I even offered to go to the store at lunch time and pick up ingredients, and my husband's like, "I dunno, sandwiches?" UGH.
Re: How is it that we are surprised by dinner every day?
I know the feeling. I have to really push myself to do a menu or else everyday I am stressed attempting to get food into the kids before bed.
But MH is no help with the menu because "I don't know. Whatever you want". So I started planning for the 3 other people in the family and if its not something he'll eat he gets to cook for himself.
M on the other hand actually does a menu with me. I have to limit him to "Mac-a-yo-knee and cheese" once every couple weeks though
You know I started my new job this week and we've been in the same boat. It sucks since I've been meal planning for years now. We've had takeout twice and last night we scrounged. And I'm going out for lunch today (fourth time this week) because we have no food.
I swear by meal planning.
Being home doesn't even help. Last night I was so stuck we had breakfast for dinner. Eggs, toast, and brocolli b/c I won't let the vegetable thing slide.

I mainly involve him because it prevents melt downs at the dinner table. Last night he started to melt down and I pointed to the menu and said "look we put this on the menu together. Mac and cheese is tomorrow." and the tantrum ended instantly. He then told me he liked the dinner and threw out that line about my cooking not sucking so much lately. (not his exact words). LOL.
