At what age do temper tantrums start?
DS just turned 17 months and I thought I had a little longer before they went into full force but he has already had two this week, complete with throwing himself to the ground and kicking and screaming. I know a lot of it is that he is frustrated about not having a full vocab yet but if he is like this now, I dread the "terrible twos".

That's around when my daughter really started to throw tantrums.....laying on the floor of a store kicking and screaming, not getting in the car, throwing things.....my mother in law thinks since it started early, it will end early.
I have to say that although she has her moments, and they are brutal when they occur, they are fewer and farther between because she is learning more words. Unfortunately, the more she learns the more she wants to explore and do and the less she wants to go along with our plans for the day...so it's still challenging, but at least now I can get out of her what she wants.
My older one - 2.5 - 3. I had it easy with him.
My little one - conception. Seriously not kidding. Even now he's 26 months and has a big vocabulary, but his temper is wicked.
It started around 18 months with DS. He's just over 3 and they haven't stopped yet!
I remember reading somewhere, maybe here, that their ped said that the terrible 2's don't actually start when they turn 2. It's in the 2nd year of life, so they can start anytime after a year.
