explain Linkedin to me please

I have heard of it but have not bothered with them.  My ex-coworker suggested I get on there.  Is this worth it?  TIA

Re: explain Linkedin to me please

  • im not on there. but ken is. he got a few people to call him reguarding his resume and one interview when he was laid off.defenilty a good marketing tool for your resume and you can see if you can find other people in your field ect.
  • It's a great networking tool - and it will help with your job hunting.

  • networking is the word i meant to use not marketing lol
  • Yes--I would definitely create a page.  I've had several calls already from linkedin recruiters.  My outplacement firm strongly suggested it and said that many places are searching linkedin before searching their own HR databases when looking for potential candidates.
  • looks like I will be creating an account.  thank you ladies
  • Totally worth it if you invest time in making connections and working them. It's how I found my current job - I stayed in touch with someone who recruited for a firmi previously worked for, periodically checked in with her because she moved somewhere that I'd been trying for like 5 years to get into, and when a job opened up that I was a fit for, I pounced.
