Tiny black bug near bed

For the 2nd time in a couple of weeks, I found a tiny black crawling dot near my DDs bed. It looks like a piece of lint...then I see tiny legs with a hard shell. I have an exterminator coming to look next week. He said what I described doesnt sound like a bedbug....my fear. But I wonder what it could be. I;m totally repulsed thinking there are bugs near her bed. Anyone familiar with this? Thanks.

Re: Tiny black bug near bed

  • my mother in law is giong through that right now. that is my biggest fear. she didn't have a huge problem but after the exterminator she sound like 2 since then (been 3 weeks now) I HATE going there and when I do (we live in walking distance) when we come home, even how cold it is i strip us all down because i will freak! i check the beds every day! and then i become very itchy! I hope its not bed bugs! check under her sheets. and if she has a bedframe to check in the cracks of the bedframe because when they are "nesting" they tend to go in small areas.

  • It almost sounds like a flea to me? Doesn't sound like a bed bug though.

I've never seen a stinkbug that small (op said it looks like a specks) though I suppose it could possibly be newly born ones since they could be 'winterizing' in the house.

  • Sorry for the duplicates. It wont let me delete them.
  • You'll only smell a stink bug if you crush it, or suck it up in your vaccuum. They're like the size of your pinky nail. We get them sometimes and I always think it's a piece of fuzz or lint or something until I bend down to pick it up.

Scarlett hates stink bugs-she alerts us to any that she sees.  Thsi morning she started crying around 5 but I let her be since that's a bit too early for her to get up and have a good day, and after a few minutes she went back to sleep.  When I went in to get her up for the day she told me she was crying b/c a bug was on her hand and she watned me to take it off.  I hope she was dreaming and that it wasn't for real-I'd feel so bad!

  • maybe it's a carpet beetle? they are very tiny like a few millimeters in length.
  • maybe I'm wrong but I thought bed bugs are more likely to be found during the warmer months.
Perhaps its a carpet beetle like the pp said.

  • Bed bugs are reddish. I saw them in action at a B&B we once stayed in (the room next door to ours).
