Neuter question?

Our new dogs are getting neutered on Tuesday and we are meeting the rescue person Thursday or Friday to pick them up. How long after their surgery do I need to wait to give them a bath? Thanks!

Re: Neuter question?

  • They typically come with a page of info.  10-14 days is the norm that I've seen.  Although, doggies are stinky, so I might do a wipe down wet soapy towel bath on their not so private parts.

  • About 2 weeks. Good luck!!
  • Ditto PPs. 10-14; in our case they told us to wait until the medical adhesive over the insicion has all disappeared (it starts flaking/peeling away after several days).

Then again, Zoey doesn't get bathed very often. We wipe her paws pretty often, since she'll get them good and dirty running around outside, but other than that a wipe-down with baby wipes pretty much covers us. She's not a stinky "dog"-smelling type, so I don't see the need to put her through a bath if it's not completely necessary. :)

  • Yea, I don't bathe my current dog very often because it dries out his skin (and because he has very short black hair, his dandruff stands out). But when we were visiting the dogs, I noticed some dirt on Dapper and we'd just like them to be clean for our house Smile I guess baby/dog wipes it will be until they are healed up!
