First name or Mrs.New last name on cake?

Last post about this! I got the fabulous idea from this post to write "And the ring goes to..." on my SIL's Hollywood themed shower cake. Do I write her first name or Mrs.New last name? I'm not sure how it works since she obviously isn't married yet. For other wordings, like "coming soon" it makes sense but I am not sure if I should use Mrs. for this or not. I've never made a bridal shower cake before and I've only been to showers where the cake just said a simple "congrats." Sorry for being so clueless! Smile

If it helps - the cake will have a bride holding up a large engagement ring (like an award) and wearing a sash that says Bride.

Re: First name or Mrs.New last name on cake?

  • Maybe "And the ring goes to... the soon to be Mrs...!" That might be hard depending on how big the cake is though.
  • Since she's technically not married yet, I'd avoid the "Mrs."  Do you know for sure if she's going to change her last name?  I'd recommend keeping it as just her first name, just to be safe!

Plus, I think the awards they give out in Hollywood normally are announced with the recipient's first/last name and not married names, if you wanted to keep it consistent with what they do.

  • She is changing her name but I was still leaning towards her first name for the cake. I value your opinions and appreciate your help! I will go with first name. Thanks.

This is a really cute solution. But yeah, I am not sure I will have space to write all of that! I'll see how it comes together.Thanks.
