Liberty Science Center Question

I am finally taking the kids up this weekend. I kinda of feel like they are old enough to fully appreciate most of the exhibits. We are going at 11 and meeting my sister later.

My questions are:

1. Is the cafe there pretty decent, looks it.

2. Off the exit of the turnpike it says its a minute drive is that true.

3. How long do you think it would take two kids (almost 8 and 6) to get bored. We are going to do at least 2 ofthe movies as well.

thank you!

Re: Liberty Science Center Question

  • 1. It's okay. It's convenient. It wouldn't be my top choice but it's okay.

    2. Yes.

    3. You can spend hours there - it's huge. Also check the movie lengths - I think two movies will be over-kill and kind of a waste of the drive up there, IMO. There are so many things to see at LSC, unless the films are like 15-20 minutes each (I thought they were much longer, or maybe it was just when I looked inot them they were much longer), I wouldn't do more than one. They're also $$$ from what I remember - personally, I'm not driving up there (and it's a heck of a lot more convenient for me than for you) and spending all that money to lose time in a movie theater.

  • 1) It's so-so but I am judging from vegetarian eyes which tends to mean only pizza at places like this.

     2) Yes. AS long as you take the correct exit and don't listen to MH.

    3) We were most of the day. The movies ate up most of the day so I think I'd only do one next time. Your kids will get a lot more out of it then M did (certainly more than S did) so I think you could easily spend an entire day there. But we are a family full of science junkies.

  • Yes the cafe is decent..actually pretty damn good..LOL.

It is right off the tpk.  Maybe 2 turns..very easy to find.

I took TJ last summer...he was 2 and was not bored.  Some of the stuff was too old for him but it's so hands on that he was very curious.  We were there about 3 hours or so..

  • I also want to add that if you can get the kids to sit for a few minutes, catch some of the presentations they do. They did a nice one on evaporation and condensation and M still talks about it (everytime the song about gases comes on his "Here Comes Science" CD.) Much better than the movies.

(We only did the movies because they were free as part of our groupon. Wish we had only down one. They were nice but took a lot of time)

  • OK thanks only one movie then. now to get them to agree to which one!
