The bloodwork results came back and the genetics counselor called, she apologized for Monday and jumping the gun, I also complained to my OB on Wednesday and she was going to talk to the MF specialist (she's the one who repeated the scan and is also the director of MFM) about the issue with the tech and the genetics counselor. Anyway, blood work came back awesome after the genetics counselor was so "sure" it would be bad based on that inaccurate first NT measurement.
Down Syndrome risk went from 1:782 based on my age (28) to 1:2,327 (or that of a 20 year old)
Trisomy 13 & 18 risk went from 1:1,400 to 1:<10,000
I am so happy now after that whole debacle and so glad to finally breathe a sigh of relief and put it all behind us! Our little jellybean appears to be perfectly healthy and completely stubborn (just like his/her parents)!

My Blog
Yay! Such good news!!
Question: did they request you do all that testing or did you decide to do it on your own. I'm trying to figure out that process myself right now.
My OB's office automatically referred me for the NT scan/1st Tri screening. I've always heard it was optional, so I asked her if I could not do it if we chose not to. She said yes it was optional, but they like everyone to have it, plus my insurance covered it 100%, and the portable u/s machine they have in my OB's office isn't that great, so they we figured it would be nice to go to a place with better equipment to get a peek at baby. If I had known there's such variance on the outcomes, and that the u/s tech I was going to get was going to be so bad (which I go to a Johns Hopkins hospital, I didn't think that could happen at such a place, but obviously I was wrong), I probably wouldn't have done it, getting a chance to see baby for free or not.
I had no reason to think anything would be wrong, I'm young or so I like to think, I've never had any major health complications, and this is my first pregnancy. When they told us something could be wrong based on the inaccurate measurement, the first thing they were trying to do was tell us we should consider the CVS or amnio. I had always been very opposed to those bc of the miscarriage risk, but actually considered the amnio if everything together didn't come back okay. I won't do the 2nd Tri Quad Screening, this was enough stress for me.
