Can I block my phone from receiving text msgs from a specific number?

I've received 24 text messages since 3:50 this morning.  The number that it is coming from is 6250 and the message is VZWNMN:1;1  I'm assuming it is some kind of Verizon Wireless service number, but it is continuous and it's annoying!  Any suggestions? I'd prefer not to respond to it, but I want it to stop.

Unless someone knows something special to do I don't think you can block specific numbers.

I had asked Verizon about that awhile back since my MIL is on our family share plan. She was getting charged for spam texts and when I asked them about blocking texts they said it was an all or nothing situation. So I just blocked texts on her number, which means she can't send or receive them.

No, hence why I was like Elaine from Seinfeld. I had to give up my 201 number and get a 551 area code number. I actually asked the Verizon rep if I could have any other number and he said nope, toomany people, not enough numbers--this was back when 551 was first out. To this day people still ask me where the hell 551 is and I say JERSEY CITY BABY! lol. I do miss my 201 number, had to change itb ecause i was being text-stalked by some ass@!hole I met in Belmar. He texted me five minutes after meeting me and then would randomly text me and harass me and was getting abusive because I didnt text him back--and I had to pay for every f ing text he sent me! So i changed numbers. What a jerkoff.

Jessica, it looks like you gave up 201 too early!  If you go to the Verizon website it allows you to block up to 5 phone numbers.  The only "catch" is that it has to be a 10 digit phone number.  The number I'm getting messages from is a 4 digit number - not  a real phone number.  

I've been googling and it looks like it's something with the back-up assistant....what does that even mean??

On your verizon wireless online account - sign in - Under PLAN - Block calls and messages.  Enter in the telephone # and hit apply.  I've done this to several people in my life and it works.  When they try to send a text to your #, they will automatically get a reply saying it was undeliverable.  Same thing when they call, they will get a pre-recorded message that the call cannot go through

You can (or at least you could) also have all text messages originating as an email (which is what this looks like) blocked, but at least when i wanted to I couldn't do individual addresses.

I have a droid.  It looks like every email that was going in to my gmail account was triggering this Verizon text msg.  I just stopped delivery of my email to my phone until MH can figure it out for me.

That's crazy!  Glad to hear that you figured out why, hopefully you can get it to stop soon!  Good luck.
