If you have flown US Air lately:

I'm a little unclear about some of their policies on the website so I'm looking for a little clarification...

1. Can you still gate-check a stroller (specifically a Joovy Sit-and-Stand)?  If so, is there a charge?  If not, do you pay a charge to check it?  And does that mean you are unable to use it IN the airport while waiting for the flight?

2. Can you carry-on razors (like, to shave your legs, not box cutters or something)?  I see this chart but I'm obviously a moron because I still don't know the answer (permitted means carry-on?):

ItemCarry-onChecked
Box CuttersNoYes
Ice Axes/Ice PicksNoYes
Knives - except for plastic or round bladed butter knivesNoYes
Meat CleaversNoYes
Razor-Type Blades - such as box cutters, utility knives, and safety razor blades (disposable razors and their cartridges are permitted)NoYes

Re: If you have flown US Air lately:

  • I have never had a problem taking a disposable razor in my carry-on. I just asked Rob, who has flown US Air a few times for work in the past few months, and he has never had an issue either (he always carries, never checks). The way I read that list, disposables are fine checked or carry-on. Just check the meat cleaver.

  • We just flew last week, not US Air, but the TSA security would be the same.  I had a disposable razor in my carry-on and it was no problem.

We also used a car seat on the plane and gate checked the stroller.  There was no charge and they tagged it as we boarded the plane and we left it in the corridor right before stepping foot on the plane.
