I just got a new phone today. Hello Droid Pro and good-bye POS Android LG Ally. I seriously hated that thing and couldn't wait to upgrade. Hopefully I like this new phone a lot better than the old one.
As I was setting up the new phone I reaffirmed something I already know: I am not skilled at technology. I'll need to spend some time perusing the instruction manual later.
BUT, more profound than that (or not so profound) was that it brought me back to all of the times I looked through XH's phone (or phones) to try to dig up dirt on him. And I thought "no wonder it took me so long to discover his indiscretions, he was always, always, always upgrading his phones". That man had more phones in the time I knew him than most people have in a lifetime. He always had to have the latest and greatest gadget. And because he was always getting new phones, I was forever trying to relearn the wheel when I would search through them for evidence.
I just thought about this and what a sad, sad state it was that I was living in for those past few months of our marriage. It made me so happy to think I'll never, ever be in a predicament like that again. Who lives like that?! And it's a good thing too, because my inability to navigate technology makes me suck as a private detective!
Re: New phone and a realization about the past
Sooo true! I didnt realize how out of control it was until I was out. Who the hell wants to be suspicious 24/7.
I have also looked back and realized how sad parts of my marriage are. It's good that you're able to recognize and move forward knowing that you won't let that happen again.
Also, XH was always getting new gadgets. I think it was part of his addictive/borderline personality issues. Nothing was ever good enough for him--never satiated, you know?
Oh, and I've a great detective so I can help you if you ever need it
Oh yes, I know that well.
-new/used truck that he sunk $8K into, not good enough. Upgraded to a brand new 2006 Dodge, which he put every bell and whistle on, then consequently blew out the engine in, because it was too hopped up on said bells and whistles to pull a trailer. So replace the 2006 Dodge with a 2007 Dodge and repeat the same performance as before. Now he drives a 2012 Dodge with a special sticker displaying the high performance chip he has in it.
-Honda 600 crotch rocket wasn't fast enough. He had to upgrade to the Honda 1000 with a crazy amount of power. That one was suspiciously stolen so he replaced it with a brand new Honda 1000, just in a different color (which was purchased the day P was born, a little birthing gift to himself, if you will).
Oh no!! Im sorry! The last time i was on here you were thinking of ending it with him after you were uncomfortable by that female that posted the phots to his FB from the weekend you were away or whatever. He sounds like a true assshole now. Better off!!
