So, now that we're back from Mexico I'm casually starting to look for jobs. I feel really torn right now. The situation here isn't good at all. We don't have an active contract so we're just being paid directly out of overhead. We're pursuing something really aggressively, but it's hard to tell whether the company really has our backs (they say that we will get funding to pursue this, but they haven't actually moved forward with that and in the meantime we're being encouraged to "take a vacation" or "work part time" or "go on casual status"). My boss seems to think that if they were going to let us all go they would have done it already. I'm starting to think they're just stringing us along because it's cheaper for them if we all find jobs while we're still employed because then they don't have to pay severance or have an increase in unemployment benefit expenses. I find it hard to let go because my boss really believes in this project and if we were to get a win it would seriously be the best opportunity of my entire career. But, on the other hand, I am an adult with a mortgage and a couple of kids and the risk might not be worth it.
Sigh. So I'm meeting with a recruiter on Monday.
