What did Ziva do?
Vet cleared her for some playing/wrestling/puppy battles as long as it stayed controlled. Collins and Ziva had some fun, definitely not out of control. Ziva is limping more than she has since pretty much the day she came home. We helped her onto the couch and her head is currently in my lap so I think she's done for the night by her own admission.
Is this normal soreness or is this "call the vet when they open in the morning because she jacked something up" kind of soreness if you had to make a guess. If she's limping in the morning we'll call of course but I'm hoping for some peace of mind for tonight. I'm gonna feel AWFUL if she did something to it....
Re: Knee surgery vets come in
We do have some of the doggie morphine or whatever it is that they gave us for post surgery. Since she's zonked I'm guessing she's okay tonight, but I'll keep that in mind for tomorrow if need be.
I'm hoping you're right that she over did it....
Oh NOOO!! Ziva!!!
I ditto Mrs.Mc. I would give her some pain meds, let her rest, call the Vet in the am & DEF scratch the romping for awhile!
GL!!
She is doing SO MUCH BETTER this morning omg! DH and I decided she is gonna take it easy this weekend for sure. We think it was some of the romping and bunny trail smelling in the backyard (melting snow = unstable anyway).
She was definitely milking it for all its worth last night. Almost had me convinced that she should just sleep on the couch because that's where she was.... manipulative little sh!t! lol
Oh Good!! Phew!!
Oh yeah, its def necessary that you put the kaibash on the extra activity/romping. Its tough, but its worth it!
Ha! Oh I totally know what you mean!! So glad to know she's doing ok!
Our dog had knee surgery, and the vet said it is totally normal after a lot of activity for her to limp or be sore. He said have her rest a day or so, then call him if there isn't improvement or it worsens. It is just like people, you know not to over do it but you can't resist, so you have to rest and wait it out. If she still uses the leg a bit, it is probably ok, and like how she's better the next day, she's probably ok.
IMO, it is worth getting sore sometimes. Who wants to sit around their whole life and not live? I think it's worth it to have a little fun and need to rest the next day. So I allow this with my dog, and the surgeon said that's ok. She loves playing in the grass and snow so much, I can't take that away, but sometimes I limit it when I see her starting to favor her good leg and not slowing down, or sometimes just my gut says its time to stop.
