Not trying to be rude or disrespectful .... but
Why would the New Jersey gov. order his state to fly the flags at half staff for Whitney Houston? I understand she was loved and cherished by many, however how do they (gov) decided who gets that honor? I was under the assumption is was people of such as heads of state, etc. Not a pop icon, or a person that was a musician. Again, not trying to offend anyone I was just wondering. For the record I do not think they should lower the flag for someone but rather a situation/ tragedy like 911, or Columbine, etc. But that is just me....
Re: Not trying to be rude or disrespectful .... but
I think it was a stupid idea to begin with. Not that it is a huge deal that he did it, or at least worth getting your knickers in a twist over, because that's just his style, but I say reserve the honor for very important situations.
Lots of addicts die everyday, and they don't get the flag lowered on their behalf, because let us face it, it isn't practical or the role of the flag.
I don't have a problem with flags being lowered for specific people, like the passing of a president.
And also vetoed gay marriage.
Nice day, Christie.
Yes,I'm smiling...I'm a marathoner!

I've never understood the hoopla about 99% of Hollywood. I'm sad that another life was senselessly lost, and I think she was an incredibly talented musician. Still, I don't think her life was more valuable than any of the non-famous people who struggle with addictions, mental health issues, or any myriad of things on a daily basis. Maybe it will encourage others to get help, I don't know.
Of course, take my opinion with a grain of salt. I just bawled reading about the passing of "Daniel the Brave," a friend of a friend who died from leukemia. Dying at 3 is just wrong, and I'm sad for him & his family.
