bergen county- good park for toddlers and big kids-

Ok, I can't do Van Saun cause the areas they want to be in are too different and far apart I can't watch Kieran and Mikey at the same time- Mikey is fearless, so I don't want him on the big section cause I will have a heart attack alone-

Mikey is also a runner- no fear- so someplace big enough that Kieran will have fun, but small that I can watch Mikey easily- Thanks!

Re: bergen county- good park for toddlers and big kids-

  • Well, I go to four. Doremus Park in Glen Rock next to the town pool and Arboretum. It gets crowded though because it's fenced in, totally shaded, big enough for big kids, but small enough to keep an eye on two kids. There are also bathrooms there but I'm not sure if they're always open. It's on Doremus Ave.

There is another one in Glen Rock called Wilde Park. It's on Maple Ave across from the police/fire station. There is a toddler area and a bigger area in the back. You park by the field and walk to the back. There are also bathrooms there and they're almost always open. It's not fenced in but it's small enough and far from the street.

Third is in Fair Lawn on Harristown Rd right off 208. It's connected to memorial pool (I think that's what it's called). The pool hasn't been in use- it's one of those beachy sand kind. So it's more of a sand pit. People don't know the park is connected and you can get in by the pool and just walk over. There is never anyone in there so I go there when I don't feel like dealing with other people's kids. It's all fenced.

Last is in Ridgewood- it's a SMALL fenced in area with a thing to climb on. It gets crowded because it's so small and it's behind the municipal building and library. I like it there because I can see him from anywhere I sit. It's also not shaded at all.

  • THANK YOU! Kieran was never a runner, I never had to worry- Mikey- well- he is cut from a different mold and will do anything and everything he can- It is supposed to be so nice and since Mikey has been stuck inside most of the week I want to get them out-

  • Mikey sounds like Logan! We could never do Van Saun cause i will loose L in a second! The Ridgewood duck pond park is good. Big enough that they can do their own thing, but small enough that you can keep an eye on both.

But there is no fence there and it's very close to the water. Ethan IS a runner and I could never trust him there

  • We lovve Lyndhurst.  All fenced in.

  • I've been to the one in Glen Rock by the pool...it's really nice. My kids like that one. There's also a really good one in park ridge off of park ave.

Theres one on Ridgewood ave in oradell...it's small, but good for both ages and fenced in.

  • I am never going alone again! I just went to a tiny local park, and we were having a good time, and then all hell broke loose. Kieran fell and bit his tongue and was has a good size gash it. So much blood. He panicked and I for the first time felt outnumbered- OMG!
