How do I give the cats liquid medicine

The receptionists told my husband the directions were in the bag.  He tried telling them we've only had the kittens for 2 weeks now and we don't know how to do it.  They were closing soon and didn't tell him.

Re: How do I give the cats liquid medicine

  • What medication is it?  Is it preloaded in syringes?  If it's bueprenorphine, you just have to get it under the tongue.  It is absorbed through the mucus membraines, so they don't have to swallow it.  If it is anything else, you reach over the kitty's head and position your thumb and middle finger at each side of their mouth and gentle press.  99% of cats will open their mouths.  Have the syringe ready behind their canine teeth and when they open, shoot it in.  Good luck!

This video helped me figure it out.  My cat is a little more wiggly than this one, but hopefully your little kittens will be easy to keep still.  Do it on a hard surface because they might shake a bit out of their mouths after you squirt it in.
