I'm sure some of you have seen this on facebook, but I want to get it off my chest because I am so freaked out right now.
Just 15 or 20 minutes ago, I heard the doorbell ring. I had no pants on, so I ran and pulled on some sweats before I went to the door. By the time I got there, some french guy in camo hunting clothes was standing in my doorway, Wyatt ran over to see who it was and I grabbed him, because I had never seen this guy before.
He started talking about how he is looking for some bear that he was told is in this area, (he wants to film it or something) and asked if he could set up camp on our land... (that's right, because I want some strange guy close to our house who isn't afraid of just walking in when I'm home alone). I told him no because of our cows, but he gave me his card anyways, then he tried to make small talk and wanted to come in for coffee but I said no, he had to leave and that my husband was out feeding cows, but would be in soon (which is a flat out lie, Lance is more than 2 hours away, but I didn't know what else to do).
After he left I locked the doors immediately and called Lance. He sat in the driveway for another 5 minutes or so before he drove away. I have to admit that the whole time he was here I was trying to remember where Lance's gun is (apparently out in the truck, how useful). Needless to say, it will be in the house on my side of the baby gate from now on.
Re: I Can't Believe That Just Happened
I was thinking the same thing. Definitely scary and I'd call just to let them know.
Same here. I would give the police a call and let them know. Then they will be able to keep an eye on things, they may also be able to find out if this guy is legit and is really looking for the bear or whatever he said--not that he should ever be knocking on people's doors because of it, though.
The guy just walked right into your house? NOT cool. I'm with everyone else.... call the police and let them know, then grab the gun and bring it inside.
Tis is the exact reason we have a large dog.
