Bwahahah...hearing baby's heartbeat through iPhone

Was perusing the Bump and a bunch of people are saying they got this really cool app to hear their baby's heartbeat through their iPhone.  Am I the only one who thinks this is absolutely ABSURD??? Sure, the iPhone acn do lots of things, but be a doppler, I think not!

haha.  sounds like someone is making money off of a recorded clip of someone's doppler

hmm... yeah first i'd say "BULLLSHIT!" but someone replied that it only really works in the 3rd trimester, not so much in the 2nd. I'd think if it weren't "real" it'd work on someone who wasn't pregnant. I'm guessing it maybe just amplifies the microphone somehow? I'm intrigued how this could possible.

Having spent the last few years developing sOftware for electronic stethoscopes I'd say it's possible in the 3rd if the baby was in the right position. There are apps we played with that did stethoscope type work. And I could hear Shawn on my stethoscope durin the third sometimes but not always.

I've used it and it does work. So I guess I don't find it that bizarre at all. All it is is an amplified microphone.

Sorry but in my mind there's no way that a piece of equipment on a phone can become ao sensitive that it Picks up a baby's heartbeat just by buying an app...I think you'd need ro make a physical change ro it like hook something else up to it. Just because you bought an app and heard A heartbeat sound does not mean it's yourbaby'sheartbeat, itcouldbd z pre recorded sound. No way.
