Stabbing Pain in boob

I have had a stabbing pain in my right boob all morning and I can't figure out why. It started after I pumped so I know it's not engorgement. It doesn't feel like a clog either. Any other ideas? I don't have any other symptoms of thrush

Re: Stabbing Pain in boob

  • Is it localized or all over?

Before pumping, after or all the time?

Are your nipples blanching when it hurts?

Does it hurt worse when getting out of the shower or going outside in the cold?

    Any redness or lumps?

  • It's on the top right side so pretty localized. No redness or lumps. Didn't notice it before I pumped and getting normal output
  • Localized makes me think a little clog, even if you can't feel a lump.  I'd take an advil and maybe use some heat before you pump next and massage that area gently from your armpit/shoulder down towards the nipple.

    Hope it clears up!

  • I had localized pain without any redness or obvious clog one day, started around 2 in the afternoon. I put heat on it but it continued. The next morning I woke up and it was red all over one side. It was mastitis.

So if you think this might be it, my advice to you is to put heat on it and get into bed, now! Rest, rest, rest, and you might be able to prevent it!

Do you have a fever at all? Feel achy or flu-ish?

I feel fine. It actually subsided quite a but after my afternoon pump session. I also got about twice the output that I normally get at that time of the day so maybe I did have a little clog that released? Who knows. Crazy boobs.
