Skinnytaste citations- am I missing something here?

I've side-eyed the lack of citations in skinnytaste.com posts before and given her the benefit of the doubt.

However, the Cajun Chicken Pasta that she posted today is such an obvious adaptation of an Allrecipes' dish that's been making the blog rounds over the past few months that it's hard to ignore. I don't see any citations, except for citing her own blog beneath the dish name.

Am I just an idiot who can't figure out where she's citing her sources?  If not, I guess I'm going to unfollow.  I run ad-blocking software, so it's not like my hits are adding to her ad revenue, but it irritates the crap out of me when people put on like they came up with an idea themselves.

  • I've wondered the same thing.
  • Ditto. And I've met her in person - what a B. Just sayin' :)
  • I've noticed that as well but figured I wasn't looking hard enough.
  • There are quite a few "big" bloggers (and not so big....) who do this.  I agree, it's very irritating....

  • I don't follow her blog, but based on that post alone, it looks like she subscribes to the "change 3 things and it's yours philosophy." I just think that's really silly and I will never understand why there are so many bloggers out there who can't simply say "adapted from" or "inspired by." I make plenty of original recipes. To me, those are the ones I come up with on my own, start to finish, without consulting any magazines/websites/etc. Even if I look at a recipe and don't use half of it, I still say "inspired  by" since that recipe is what inspired me to make mine.

    People are lame.

     100% agree.

  • Interesting.  I'd emailed her awhile back to ask if I could load one of her recipes into a calorie tracking website I was using,  giving appropriate credit and a link back.  She said she preferred I didn't bc it could impact her google results.

    LOL

    I've noticed the same.

  • I really think that's why I prefer Eat Yourself Skinny, she is just so stinkin nice. I like the nice people to "win" when they can! Whenever people ask for healthy cooking blogs, I send them her way, she is just the sweetest person ever. And her recipes have WW points (old and new) and calorie counts.

this is EXACTLY how I feel.  No matter what, even if I totally changed the recipe, I will site where I get inspiration.

There's a new blogger that I came across (he is Canadian),  and his citing is horrible.  I know he clearly follows other popular blogs (many of you on here) and then a few weeks later I see his "new recipe".  Once in a while there is a credit given, but not always...and you can't tell me that you can make Kung Pow Chicken without a recipe...
