anyone have kitchenaid oven w/ temp probe built in?

just curious- i was so psyched when I saw this feature & thought I followed the instructions...

I plugged it in & tried to select temp - 125, I'm broiling a steak and like it med rare and plan to let is rest to 130. It won't let me enter 125. It will let me enter 125. Does it have a lower limit? if so that is ridiculous.

I settled on 130 & figured I'd watch it. then it tells me to select cook method. I keep hitting broil & all it does is beep, won't let me select broil.

I gave up & put my old thermometer in it.

???

  • I had the same issue with ours,  I also like rare meat, so I never used it, and I think you can only use it on Bake.

Also, we had an issue where the oven thought that the probe was in, but it wasn't and I couldn't use the oven at all (and I was trying to prepare New Years Eve dinner!).  Overall, I never ended up using the probe.

Huh. that is weird that 1. you can only use it on bake and 2. it won't let you pick whatever damn temp you want, what if you're making some weird thing that has to be really cool in the middle or something. Thanks for the response, I guess my excitement about it was short lived & now over.
