***Publius*** (KL Related)

Hi! :-)

I have a friend here in Doha who will be traveling to KL for work! She's going to stay an extra day to do some sightseeing. Any suggestions of things she should see/do/eat/etc? :-)

Thanks!

  • They've just reopened the twin towers with a new observation deck on the top floor. I've heard on a clear day the view's amazing. You have to get there early for that though. If you're not in line already when te ticket office opens they'll probably run out of tickets before they get to you. Kompleks Kraf- this is a conglomerate of Malaysian craftsmen in the city. There are several stalls where various local craftsman work. You can go watch them carve wood, paint batik, etc., or you can do it yourself. It can be fun to make your own pot or batik painting and is a nice way to spend an afternoon. There is a lot I green space in the city. There's a massive park at the foot of the KL tower that can be nice to explore. Also there's another park in another area of town with a massive aviary and a butterfly habitat (I have no idea what they're supposed to be called). Chinatown is great for wandering around too. There are several historical buildings down there including a temple and an old imperial market which now houses a lot of different stalls selling Malaysian goods. If she wants to see monkeys the best place is a Hindu shrine just outside the city called Batu Caves. I believe you can get there via public transport. The actual caves are not that interesting but the climb up to them and the monkeys are. . For food I'd say give the hawker stalls along the street a try. They're super cheap and some o the best food I've had here has been at an establishment with plastic chairs.
  • Thanks so much! I've passed this information on to her :-) I appreciate it!
