Thrush ?

Has anyone tried grapefruit seed extract for thrush? I'm battling it and I think it is ductal so I'm taking the pills and using the extract. LO doesn't appear to have any of the symptoms but I'm still wiping out his mouth with it before feeding.

Any other homeopathic treatments to try, I personally don't have any insurance and we're still waiting on CHP to come through for DS so I would love to avoid another insanely expensive trip to the Dr. if possible.

You can also try gentian violet. It will stain everything purple though. I've heard it's pretty effective. You should also make sure to wash anything that comes in direct contact with your nips in super hot water to kill the yeast, otherwise you can keep reinfecting yourself. You can also add vinegar to your wash which should help some. I'd wipe his mouth out before and after feedings to minimize his exposure. Good luck!! Thrush is terrible. I had it really bad but I think if I had caught it earlier I could have used homeopathic remedies to get rid of it.

I was also going to suggest the gentian violet. I never had it with either of the boys but the LC I worked with would recommend the gv to moms. Like pp said make sure you are washing everything that touches your nips after every time it might get exposed (ie. use a bath towel only once, wash your bras and shirts after every wear). I'm sorry, I hope you and your LO get over it soon!
