We had a really good time! We got into the city around 2:30 yesterday and walked around Times Square until about 4 when we could check into our hotel. DH had never been before, so he just wanted to take it all in. We went to dinner near the hotel and then went on The Ride later on. The Ride was about as cheesy as I expected, but I smiled and laughed the whole time.We really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, on our way there, Derek's brakes started to make some noise, so we were nervous about driving home today. We had planned on staying longer and doing some more sight-seeing today, but because we were worried about the car, we left around 10:30. We got home fine in about 3 1/2 hours, but he'll definitely have to get his brakes looked at this week.
Derek was so surprised about the trip and had a great time, so hopefully it helped to make his 30th birthday a memorable one!
Re: Back from New York
I put the tickets for The Ride and a printed page from the hotel's website in a card. I gave him the card Thursday night to give him a little notice. I think he's still sort of surprised that I planned it without him knowing. I mean, it wasn't a huge trip, but we don't usually surprise each other with stuff like that. I think I earned some major wife points.
Luckily, my 30th isn't until October, so he's got time to plan something! haha
Great way to break the news!! And way to set the bar high for your birthday:)
