Favorite Sundae toppings?
We're hosting an ice cream social with a make-your-own-sundae bar. I want to make sure I have all of the most popular toppings so if you could post your favorites I would really appreciate it!
Also, the party is 3-5, children's party, do you think I should have food other than sweets??
Re: Favorite Sundae toppings?
Hot fudge
Crushed Oreos
Reese's cups
M & Ms
Brownie pieces
Sprinkles
Hot fudge, Marshmallow fluff, Wet Walnuts, Whipped cream
Maybe some waffles or pizzelles to scoop the ice cream on, as an alternative to cones?
Hot fudge
Caramel
Crushed Oreos
Pecans
Walnuts
Peanut Butter Topping
hot fudge
peanut butter
toasted almonds
toasted coconut
Candy is always a favorite, for example.
M&M's
Snickers
Oreos
PB cups
Butterfingers
If kids will be there, they might like gummy bears and sprinkles too.
I think that something else might be nice so the kids have some savory to counteract the sweetness. Maybe some sliders.
In addition to what everyone else has said
peanut butter, pretzels, banana slices and fresh strawberries.
While I love hot fudge, for kids sundae bars I usually just do chocolate sauce...easier for them to manage. In fact, they really go for Magic Shell over plain sauce, in my experience.
A non-chocolate sauce for those who prefer that (strawberry, caramel, butterscotch, etc.).
Chopped cookies (oreos, chocolate chip)
Various chips - chocolate, white chocolate, cinnamon, butterscotch, peanut butter (if no allergies), any of the mixed chips like mint chocolate or PB chocolate
Fresh strawberries and bananas
Chopped nuts (again, if no allergies)
Sprinkles
Whipped cream
Cherries
Gummy bears
Chopped brownies/blondies
Pretzel pieces
Marshmallows and chopped graham crackers can make a 'smores sundae with the chocolate sauce or chips
M&Ms
any chopped candy - reeces, candy bars, malted milk balls, kit kats, whatever favorites the birthday child and/or friends may have
I personally do like to have some non-sweet options available for the kids. I know when my kids go to a party, I appreciate some small sandwiches, fruit, or even just pretzels. Anything savory and a little healthier. My older daughter can't eat a lot of ice cream (we don't know why, she's not lactose intolerant but larger portions of ice cream have made her sick since she was a baby and she's almost 9 now), so something besides the ice cream to counteract the sweetness and munch on in addition to a smallish sundae is really nice for her at parties like this.
