Does this apply to EVERYTHING? I know it applies to shampoo and stuff, but what about deodorant, toothpaste, contact solution... do they make 3oz versions of all of this stuff? I'm going to spend more $ trying to avoid checking costs, lol.
Re: flying and the 3oz rule
I remember having to get rid of a full size toothpaste on the way to one of our vacations (for some reason I had it in the carry-on). Luckily, MH had packed some in his suitcase. You can bring it IF you have it in your check in luggage but not your carry-on.

yese it applies to EVERYTHING. hair stuff. contact solution. make up tubes.
yes they make travel size contact solution, toothpast deoderant all that stuff. by target its near the shampoos and stuff
Contact solution doesn't count (I wear contacts and have traveled countless times with a full bottle of solution).
(you just have to take the bottle of saline out and run it through security)
put all that stuff in your checked bag, assuming you're checking at least 1. it's only for carry on items.
i had a vase in my bag.... uhm yeah. my bag was tested for a bomb. lol
flipping dc security made me toss mine. man now im annoyed
Get out! If you look at the TSA website it has the exceptions and saline is one of them. We fly out of Philly though. I would have been pissed and whipping out my iPhone to show them the list lol.
I don't want to check any bags so I'm trying to get it all into carryons. We land, both ways, really late at night and I don't want to wait around for luggage - I want to get out of dodge asap!
Thanks for your input. I guess I'm adding to my shopping list for today.

this was pre me having a smart phone. but DAMN it. if i had known.
it applies to contact solution. Just because you didn't get caught doesn't mean it didn't break the rules. My friends got through security with a freaking 6 inch knife (don't ask it was accidentally added to the box of the frozen deep dish pizza they were bringing us). Security is totally lacking at some airports. Meanwhile MH basically had to throw out his entire carry-on because he ignored the 3oz rule and San Antonio security is quite efficient.
Maybe they recently added the exception.
