Frozen meat in the crockpot

I see people talk about doing this on some websites as well as in an old crockpot cookbook I have.  I have always been leery of it.  Is it safe?

I've done this multiple times and never had a problem.  It might increase your cooking time, but I don't think there's any reason why it wouldn't be safe.  Actually I think it could be safer, because by the time the meat is thawed the rest of the crockpot is at a food-safe temperature already, so the meat isn't just hanging out while the crockpot is warming up...KWIM?

I do it all the time with chicken breasts & beef roasts.  We've never had a problem or gotten sick.

I am actually hoping to increase the cooking time so I think I will give it a shot. Thanks!

I use frozen chicken breasts in the crock all the time. Ground beef, on the other hand, would be nasty. IMO.
