Any reviews of these books?

Rules of Civility (Amor Towles)

The Man of My Dreams (Curtis Sittenfeld)

I just got a B&N gift card so I'm interested in stocking up my nook. :)

Re: Any reviews of these books?

  • Rules of Civility got rave reviews on here so I'm starting it now. I just finished The Marriage Plot & liked it.

  • I loved the Rules of Civility. There were a few parts that were slower but not enough to make me want to put the book down.

I haven't read The Man of My Dreams but do really like Cirtis Sittenfeld.

  • I read RoC based off reviews on here and it was AWESOME. Def get it.

I read REDFIELD FARM last night and it was great.

No thanks, I don't need child porn or Tweets from this site---thanks for the memories nesties---RIP, Franco---2004--2012.
  • i just finished man of my dreams last week -- i liked it better than prep, but it's not my favorite book by any means. I think it's just Curtis Sittenfield's books -- the characters are just too neurotic for my personal liking. LOL  I have the paperback here that i'd love to get rid of -- you're more than welcome to have it if you want to use your gc for something else. we don't live that far from each other and could meet up one night.

  • Rules of Civility is awesome! I read it when it first came out and loved it. It was recommended in Oprah's magazine a while back.

Another good one is Next to Love. It is about me returning from WWII and it details their lives as well as their wives...really good read.

The language of Flowers is another good one.

Id love to - thanks!!  I didn't like Prep but liked American Wife so I figured I'd take the gamble. But your way sounds better. :)

  • Rules of civility was wonderful. Didn't read the other one.
  • I am reading The Man of My Dreams now and can't put it down.  The main character actually annoys me but it is a fast, fun read.
