So I don't have a lot of experience with mean commenters, and I probaly am just getting my feelings hurt. I don't want to be reactionary. Any advice? Ignore, delete, respond?
He has left some comments today on my post about the Jaque Torres 36 hour Cookie recipe.

Re: Troll commenter. Ugh, help...

Honestly, I don't know why people engage spammers. If it's obvious they're being mean (which it is in this instance) then I'd just leave the comment out there without a reply. There's no rule that says you have to respond to all the comments people leave on your blog and in situations like this there's no winning - they just want to be mean so if you ignore them it's dead in the water.
I'm sorry your feeling are hurt. Mine would be too.
You ladies are right. I need to just ignore an move on.
Thanks

That made me LOL.
I had lunch a few weeks ago with a blogger friend of mine who have been doing it a while and has tons of traffic, and a pod cast, which equals tons of negative comments. When we were talking about negative comments, he said "Seriously Jackie, Don't feed the trolls. Laugh at them and move on."
I should remember that next time.
This exactly. My feelings would be hurt, too...but they shouldn't be. I wanna take a bite out of monitor just looking at those babies!
Awww. Thanks
I know those picture suck, I took them as I was getting ready/running out the door for the first open house to sell my house. Super stressful time right now, and I hate to post photos that I don't really like. and him pointing out how much they suck just hit a sore spot
But we did get an offer on the house, and in the cover letter the buy ended with, "And those cookies were amazing"
I SWEAR! I as was so happy, my husband thought it was ridiculous that I was more excited about that comment than about the fact that we sold the house! I should PDF that letter and put it in the post!
Toll House can kiss my ass.
1) Congrats! 2) That's super cute
Easier said than done. I needed to hear that too! Love your blog.

Thank you so much.
It is so easy for me to tell other people to ignore it and so hard for me to actually do it. One more thing to work on!
It is hard. One day a few weeks ago I had a bunch of hits from a nest board, so I clicked on the link in my dashboard and within the thread one comment said, "I can't stand that girl" (me). It was really hard to read, but I just told myself that she doesn't know me, and tried to shake it off.

AHHHH! I would cry my eyes out. I don't think that people realize that there is an actual person who gets paid nothing, or nearly nothing to run a blog. And if you post a comment about someone with a link to their blog, they will probably see it.
Jerks. They don't even know you, and their comments say a lot more about them then about you.
What?!? How is that even possible? Sad.
Don't feel bad at all! It's always good to have a little commiserating so we don't feel like we are the only one
I just had someone leave this comment on m blog, in response to the troll:
"Ken sounds like a moron. Or a seven year old. Not sure which one."
If it was one of you ladies, then THANK YOU! If not, it made my day that a stranger came to my defense!
I disagree. I think they're good pictures! And the cookies are the perfect height - not flat at all.
my food blog
What?! You?! That's ridiculous!
my food blog
Thank you! Glad that you could tell that from the pictures, Ken makes it sound pretty bad.
FG and TS didn't like them too much
oh well, you can't win them all!
But, I will say that cookies DID turn out great, regardless of what Ken has to say.
I would delete his rude comments, then move on. Honestly, I kind of feel bad for someone with nothing else to do but leave rude comments on blogs.
Mean people suck. Period.
FWIW, I would be hurt by it, too. Even knowing I shouldn't respond I would have felt compelled to. Sorry!
I think the cookies look great.
Ooops! Logged in under the wrong SN. How the heck did I manage that?
I second this. That's crazy!
I thought about it, but I didn't want him to think that her got to me so much I couldn't stand to post it. Seemed like it made the comments more valid.
I remember that one someone posted on your blog about that Oh She Glows recipe you posted. I couldn't believe that person was so rude AND so wrong at the same time.
The best part about it, and the reason I'm glad I decided to post the comment, is watching complete strangers come to my aid. The comments in my defense more than make up for his nastiness.
