I only break them out for "Sunday Dinner", and even then, that's only if other people are coming over. Ditto for holidays. For casual dinners or outdoor bbqs, we just stick with paper napkins.
SO and I bought large kitchen wash clothes that make great everyday napkins, and that is all we use. I have not bought paper napkins for a very long time. These are easy to just throw in the laundry and less paper to throw away. Plus, paper napkins get expensive.
I shouldn't say that's all we use... I of course have nice cloth napkins for guests as well. We use the nicer napkins when ever we have company.
Check out flea markets and antique stores if you ever go. You can get nicer ones than you can in stores for a fraction of the price. I have a favorite antiques store where the owner borders on hoarding lol, and she just has Rubbermaid tubs of napkins that you dig through. I bought 30 cocktail napkins the last time I was there for $10 - they're all white linen and vintage with different monograms and patterns. (I figured I'd go for the shabby chic look, since getting my own custom monogram isn't happening any time soon lol.)

Thanks for the idea. I don't think we have any flea markets out here, but DH has been talking about making a day trip to one when the weather is a little nicer. I want some monogrammed ones, but I know if I get them I will never want to actually use them and get them dirty.
