cous cous --how to make it taste good
I bought box of couscous and have no idea how to get it tasting yummy!
It looks like it can absorb different flavors and still be healthy and tasty ...
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I make my couscous with broth -- vegetable, chicken, beef -- in place of water. I find that it does absorb the taste. I also add a bit more butter/olive oil than the recipe calls for. If I am using it as a starch, I will leave it plain. If I am having it as meal, I will add a handful of frozen peas or corn, or saute some sugar snap peas to add along with diced chicken breast or leftover steak. Couscous is a great pantry staple and easy to mix up with just about anything.
Well be aware that cous cous = pasta so eating a plateful of cous cous is not necessarily healthy. It is just like any other enriched white flour grain (assuming you got that kind).
I like to prepare it and then add beans, herbs, roasted veggies and sort of make it a grain salad.

DH is a vegetarian so my favorite add ins for couscous are mushroom broth, saute'ed mushrooms and onions, cayenne and parmesan cheese.
