anyone use TJ's Harvest Grains?

it's a bag w/ israeli couscous, baby garbanzos, red quinoa, something else..

.I got it the other day b/c some guy was raving about it and I made it tonight, just mixed some chicken in & it was pretty good- I really liked all the textures. It just wasnt very interesting. Was wondering if anyone had good uses for it. maybe even a soup or something? thanks!

Re: anyone use TJ's Harvest Grains?

  • we use it as a side dish, and i make it with chicken broth instead of water. we love it as is. and by we, i mean me and dh. the kids are not wild about it.
  • I feel like I read about it on peanutbutterrunner.com recently
  • I like it. Cook with chicken on veggie broth to add some more flavor. A different side dish to switch things up!
Tide and Thyme , My food blog.
  • Thanks! Will check out that website. I did do it w/ chicken broth & thought it was good (pretty sure my kids would spit it out also), just didn't know if there were other things to do besides as a side.

Wow, if you want to feel really unhealthy go visit that blog. haha!

But this is what she wrote that she did with the harvest grains, it sounds good except I'm not sure about the yogurt on it but maybe that would give some creaminess I guess.

"I cooked the Harvest Grains with chicken broth and threw some dried sun dried tomatoes into the pot with it. I stirred some feta and chopped artichoke hearts into the mixture once it was cooked and then served it over a bed of spinach. I topped it all with the reheated roasted eggplant and asparagus and a spoonful of plain Greek yogurt."
