Any cool spring trips this year?

Re: Poll: Any trips you are taking this spring?

  • H and I are planning to go to Hanover and Berlin and possibly one other German city (in the north) in May. We were thinking Hamburg or Cologne but it depends on the amount of time off he can get from work and how much money we have :)
  • We're going to Bordeaux in a few weeks.  Amsterdam in April.  Tuscany and Rome in May.  Still trying to decide about the Easter long weekend, but we may go back to NYC.  I'm really excited about our trips!

  • We're trying to plan Edinburgh in March/April timeframe, and then Cinque Terre in April (if it's opened fully).  In May, we've talked about spending a week in Sevilla/Granada, Spain, which I'm really looking forward to!

  • We're doing a long weekend in Canberra next month.  I'll call that spring travel, even though it's really going to be autumn here.  For actual spring travel, I am seriously considering heading back to my cousin's wedding in October, but we'll have to see about that, I am going back for a long-ish trip in December/January.

  • We're planning to combine a vow renewal in Positano for our 10 year anniversary with a professional conference we both need to do in Rome in September.

We just suffered a devastating miscarriage after 3 trips to the US for fertility treatment, so after a total of 8 yrs and 14 IVF attempts, we're ready to just unwind and think about something else....

  • I'm in Prague this weekend (I know, not spring, but I'm excited!). We have a trip to Budapest/Bratislava in March, to Hay-on-Wye and a friend's wedding outside Birmingham in April, and are going to Portugal for another friend's wedding in May that we turned into a 10-day holiday :-) I absolutely loved Portugal last year and am super excited to go back.

  • H and I are headed to New Zealand's south island in a couple of weeks and I can't wait. Aside from that we've got various friends coming to visit throughout the spring and have various shorter trips planned with them to Parenthian Island, Borneo, and Bali.

I am so, so sorry and I'm glad that you're taking some time for yourselves to do something fun. It sounds like a lovely trip, I really love Italy.

  • Thank you so much Dulcemariamar1 and Pittpurple. Planning this vacation to Italy is giving us a much needed distraction.
  • The only thing we have booked in so far is a week split between Whitby and Harrogate.

  • We are going to the Netherlands over Easter break. We will be in Edinburgh in July. We want to go to Bath/Stonehenge, Ireland and the Cotswolds sometime soon, too. Our time in England is coming to a close probably sometime this year, and we want to do as much traveling as we can in the next few months!

  • Does a night away for a wedding count?  It's not even in a part of the country that I have any desire to visit for any other reason... We will only be going to the hotel, having dinner, probably drinking to the wee hours of the morning, sleep, maybe breakfast and then home...

Other than that... nothing... I'm jealous of all your trips... :-(((

  • We have eight straight weeks of visitors between March and May.

I am going to Madrid during that time with my parents when they come, to see family.

I am taking DD to Sevilla next week to see some friends of mine there and just generally be somewhere warmer.

I am going to try to get to London for a weekend in April (in between visitors) to celebrate a friend's birthday. We'll see.

Nothing very exotic since I've been to all of these places before, but they're all to see good friends and family, so they feel necessary as I adjust to my new home here.

  • I guess it's still winter (or summer here), but we're headed up to Buzios to spend a few days at the beach later this week once the Carnaval festivities die down.

Then at Easter he's coming to Norway and we'll be spending a week in Hungary.

In May my parents are finally coming to visit, and we're taking a cruise from Oslo around the southern tip of Norway to go see the fjords.

  • We are doing Paris in late May/early June.  So excited!  DH just became a US citizen & is dying to use his passport.  I've never managed to get to Paris & an old family friend (an exchange student my mom's family hosted when she was in high school 40 years ago) & his partner just bought a gorgeous house with a pool in the burbs so we get to stay for free!  I'm trying to figure out how to book a stopover in Iceland on the way there since it's free on Iceland Air & they are the cheapest option from Boston.  Anyone know how to do this?

The Norwegian fjords cruise is one of my dream itineraries.  I'm anxious to hear how it is.  I am trying to decide if I want to do that one or another Baltic cruise for our "real" honeymoon as soon as we've saved enough for it.

  • No trips, apart from our niece's Christening in Oxford. We have family visiting in April and May, and then are planning our Olympic trip in the summer...

    Mum to W (4) and M (nearly 2)
  • The week before Easter is Spring Break for the kids, so we'll head to Langkawi.  Looking into Australia for this summer--we'll for sure do Sydney, and trying to figure out where else.

<3  I love those places.  We spent a lot of time in Harrogate since we lived 15 minutes from there.

  • We're going to Chicago in March and doing a cruise to Alaska in May.  I'm pretty excited!
