NPR: My best friend died yesterday
So overcome with grief...can't sleep...just having nightmares. I miss her so much.
I am sorry I couldn't save her.

You will forever be my best friend. I can almost feel our hugs. I will ensure everyone will know (now and in the future) what a genuine, kind, loving person you were...I already miss your laughter and our daily conversations. I love you, Samantha.

Re: NPR: My best friend died yesterday
I'm so sorry! I feel you on the grief (although mine is still anticipatory at this point) and the nightmares.
She's lucky that she had a friend like you. I'm not sure what your belief is in the afterlife, but know that she is without pain and illness now, and is at peace.
I wish there were words that could make this better for you. There aren't. I know there aren't.

I'm so sorry for your loss!
Was her passing sudden? I would be devastated to lose my BFF of almost 25 years.
She sounds like a sweetheart. T&P for all who knew & loved her.

I'm sorry for your loss. From experience- you can't think about the fact that you weren't able to save her. It will eat you alive. Death is a part of life. You don't get to pick who dies and who doesn't. If its their time, it is...
As for the grief, its a long process. It will change every day. No one can tell you how to deal, its personal.
Thanks for the support.
She died from complications of a genetic disorder, familial dysautonomia. If you are interested you can read more about it here:

Her genetic disorder certainly did not define her, it was just a part of her.
