BWLO: What to do with new with tags baby clothes?

What do you all do?

I just cleaned out Jane's closet, waaaay overdue, and her closet was mostly 'dressier' clothes and some of it never even worn.   Some were gifts that weren't my style (but still nice unworn stuff) and some are things I bought that she just never wore (stupid me waiting for a 'special' occasion....).   Her old playclothes are easy to toss or save, but this stuff?  It kind of kills me to toss it.  I could save it but then the stuff that's not my style, I'm not suddenly going to like for fictional baby-who-may-not-even-be-a-girl #2.

Anyone consigned anything?  Sold on CL?  What else?

Re: BWLO: What to do with new with tags baby clothes?

  • Do you have any friends that may be interested in it? Almost all of our baby clothes were from friends/family that passed it on to us. I brought all my maternity clothing to Goodwill. I didn't want to consign or sell because for me it was too much of a hassle. I'd rather just get rid of it and be done. If there's a kids' consignment clothing store around you, that would be a good option though, if you want to take that route.
  • I haven't exchanged clothes with any friends, lol.  So my guess is probably not that route (I have friends with vastly different ages and I think if it's not my style, probably not theirs either).  Same w/ my sister.  My sister would happily use the stuff I like, but probably not the stuff I don't.

I agree w/ you on consigning - which was kind of why I was asking to see how much a hassle it is.

  • I do consign at a store called Kid 2 Kid. It is a franchise but I'm not sure where they have locations. I just drop off a bin of stuff, they sort through and make me a cash offer. I can take the cash or if I take store credit they add 20% of the offer. What they don't take, I donate. Often if it is new with tags they will take it. The only problem is they have been open for 4 months and have gotten very popular so it is hard to catch them accepting clothes. They take all kid things too like toys, gear, maternity, etc.

  • My friend has an Ebay store, so she sells just about everything in my house that I get rid of.  It's great.

We could also consign at a store in town.

I probably wouldn't mess with Craigslist-I am too lazy.

  • Do you have a ONce Upon a Child--they pay cash!

    What sizes are they?

  • I just looked we don't have a Kid 2 Kid or Once Upon a Child.  We do have one local shop that I've browsed but honestly their stuff is completely overpriced (which maybe that would be good for me as a seller, lol).  But, as a buyer of used clothes, I would never spend what they ask.

Amy - One item is an Us Angels velvet long sleeved dress with  a tulle skirt.   It's purple and a size 2T.   Other stuff is all in that 18-2T range, I think.  Oh, one Carter's cardigan that's a 18M.

  • I totally regift any outfits that still have tags on them.  I have given a ton of dresses to friends having girls.  If not then I would consign it.
  • Definitely look into consignment.  There is an "upscale" consignment place by my mom's, and they have baby clothes and gear like what you described... dressier, NWT, etc.

Or you could do them in a lot on ebay so it's all sold at once.
