Regarding that Heartbeat App...
I told my friend about it who is 30 weeks and it definitely does work. She said it took quite some time but with the microphone and the headphones, you can pick it up. She said you have to be really still or else there tends to be some static but they were able to pick it up. It even let's you record it and email it. She emailed me the proof.
Oh and she said she tried it on her husband just to make sure it wasn't a recording

Re: Regarding that Heartbeat App...
i was thinking the same thing! i tried daily with an at home doppler from a friend and i think i picked it up twice my whole pregnancy. the doppler didnt even pick up mine, anthony's, or the dog's heartbeat.
I love that you used the doppler on the dog!
The app says it's for 30+ weeks so at that point, I would think it's possible to detect the baby. But for $4 I'll just save my pennies and count kicks instead.
It truly is the most magical place on earth! Disney 2011
It's going to depend on so much: baby's position, your body, etc. We had one guy at our old office that we did all our stethoscope testing on because he was skinny. Skinny=easier to hear a heartbeat on ... less "stuff" to have to get through.
