Q re: Ikea delivery - costs?

I need to order an arm chair. if I order it from their site, it says it's $99 for Fed Ex delivery. If I use the chart that their computer CS pushes me to, it says it's $40, which makes no sense to me. Don't they have a standard delivery charge for items placed in-store? I thought i could go there, arrange delivery, and pay $79? I don't see it anywhere on their site...

  • When I looked into it all I could find was the fed ex home delivery fees which were ridiculous. I decided it was cheaper to rent a UHaul and send MH ;)

Yea and the whole Fed Ex thing doesn't work for me because you have to be there to sign for it and after three failed attempts they send it back to the warehouse. Hello, we work. If I didn't work, I'd rent a damned truck and go pick it up myself.

Plus the biggest reason I pay for furniture delivery is so someone else has to haul it up the fricking stairs which Fed Ex doesn't do.

Exactly - even if I was able to release it for delivery without signature, I'd come home to a huge chair sitting on my front steps. Rob would be thrilled.

  • i had them deliver once the charge was ridiculous.. like $125 for an item that cost just about that much. crazy. i had no other choice at the time but never again.
  • I just read an article on AOl today that said you can buy IKEA stuff on Amazon.com  now... you might want to check it out and see if it's cheaper.
