S/O Tampa favorites... What about St. Pete Beach?

DH and I are heading to St. Pete Beach in April for a wedding.  It's at the Sirata so that's where we are staying.

What are your favorite places to eat/have drinks/etc?

Re: S/O Tampa favorites... What about St. Pete Beach?

  • My family really enjoyed Middlegrounds Grill.  Dinner was delicious! And the snow cone shop next door is yum.
  • I know next to nothing about St Pete. :(
  • We stayed at the Sirata about a month ago and walked over to the Tradewinds. They have an outdoor restaurant (I think you can eat inside too) right by the pool and everything seems so fresh and delicious! Can't beat that 2 minute walk across the sand.

  • We used to live in Gulfport which is like 5 minutes from SPB.  We liked to go to Bella Habana for cuban sandwiches and mojitos.  They often have 2 for 1 for their margaritas and mojitos and they are delish.

We also frequented a hole in the wall called The Wharf.  It's down past the Don Cesar and comes up on your left (the intracoastal side).  It's very casual, inexpensive, great place to hang out and get food and drinks.  Their buffalo shrimp is yumm.  They have live music late night usually.

I also like the Hurricane.. it can be a bit overpriced but I still think it's good.  It's right on the beach as well in Passe Grille and has great views.

My favorite late night spot is Jimmie B's.  It's behind the Beachcomber hotel (used to be a Best Western) and it's a big beach bar.  Their food is decent but at night they always have great live bands and tons of people dance and hang out.  It's soo fun.  I don't get down there much anymore but we went a few months ago (about a week before I found out I was pregnant) and had the best time.  It's a mix of tourists and locals and it's a blast.

  • It's a little drive, but in Tierra Verde on the way to Fort DeSoto I love love love Billys Stone Crab.  The house salad is nostalgic to me, they have great  early bird specials.  After we leave the beach we stop there and I do 30 peel and eat shrimp and a salad for like ten bucks.  The open air bar upstairs serves food and you look down at the marina.  Usually you can spot a manatee or two and catch a great sunset.  And at certain times of the day you get a free pontoon boat ride and that is always a good time because a local guy is the tour guide and always hilarious.

Thanks for all the recommendations, Shawna!  Those all sound great!

Sounds like a cool place!  Havent decided if we are renting a car or not yet, but if we do, we may have to check this place out!

This is H and I at the upstairs bar, about 2 days before I got my BFP.  Very relaxed, chill place upstairs.  A little more formal (but still casual) in the dining room in the evening.  Gah, I forgot how much I love Billys.

    I second this restaurant. YUM.

There is an inn next to the Sirata called the Postcard Inn - they have a cute little beach bar out back, bands playing. That would be fun and in walking distance.

Thanks Aly!  I think we have quite a few places to keep us busy now :)
