DH and I have March 4-7th for a "just the two of us getaway." (Yeah, Camp Mimi and Pop Pop!) We want to either drive or fly direct from Pitttsburgh, PA. Sarasota is one of the few places we can fly directly to, so I thought Siesta key might be nice. I've been looking online and can't really find any place that looks great to stay. The Hyatt is a possibility, but we don't need 2 bedrooms. Ultimately we would be on the beach, but able to walk to dinner. We want to relax and sit on the beach for the most part. Budget is not really an issue. B&B, hotels, anything above a tent is an option, but we like more "upscale" accomodations. Is there anywhere around Sarasota that you have been and loved? Suggestions?
Thanks,
kristen
Re: Where to stay on Siesta Key? Or somewhere great near Sarasota?
Thanks. The Longboat Key Club is looking like a good option. I loved The Colony on Long Boat Key when we went when I was a teenager. I was sad to see it has closed.

Sounds like Siesta Key probably isn't the best bet. I'd go with the Hyatt, Ritz-Carlton (they have shuttles to their beach club), the Longboat Key Club or the Lido Beach Resort.
Have fun!
