Why FB will never take over the nest.....
Where else could we share about how many kids we think we're going to have, why our MIL's are pains in the ass, or anything that only women can understand? I don't plan on sharing my tubal ligation to people I don't speak to from high school, but I gladly share it here. Because even if you don't know me, you get it.
So, still loving my nesties. Even when we go crazy sometimes. You're all good kids and I love you all in a very special way.

I dunno - Private/Closed groups on FB have been my go-to for a lot of mothering/parenting/etc. chat lately. I was burned on the knot and learned the hard way that these boards are TOTALLY PUBLIC and a lot more people read them than we think.
I can see closed groups having a purpose but I prefer the influx of new and old posters that come here. If you want a totally objective opinion, whether you like the answers or not you're more likely to get it here. People who are close on a closed small circle of friends board may not feel like they could be that honest.
Sure, it's not private here and if you have stalky lurkers you know about or if you're worried about people finding you here I guess it makes sense. But for me personally, I don't really care what people know about me. If I said it here, chances are I have no problem confronting whatever it is in real life. I'm not a private person at all.

FB and the Nest serve two completely different purposes for me. I'm not publicizing on FB that my child spit on her teacher. I just can't. I have learned so much from the people here and I just don't get a lot of the new ideas I get here from FB. my IRL friends are like clones of each other. There are opinions here that I would never have heard in a million years on FB or IRL. I'll never leave.
I agree with Tara. I'm a pretty open book and wear my heart on my sleeve kind of gal, so what I do share isn't information I wouldn't want the world in general to know. But talking about my personal contraceptive choices, or about how my kid acted like an a-hole, just doesn't make sense to share in the FB world. It has no context there.
Whatcha tryin to day, Sommer?!?!? = P
I've been feeding in more lately than usual, I have to admit.
