Just talked to the tax man, we're getting money back - he wasn't done so I don't know how much yet but something is better than owing or nothing. At least enough to fix the dern camera that broke in October!
He did note that we should put more in our 401(k) so we could maybe move down a tax bracket. Nick doesn't put anything in his (procrastinator) so him putting any would probably help. Once we move and get a new mortgage and bills we'll see how much we can adjust.
Anyone else get their taxes done?

I have to call today to find where my W2 is. Still haven't gotten it. And all my mailed is being forwarded, sooo yeah. I know we're going to owe though, we have to pay back the 8k we got when we bought the townhouse since we sold it 3 months before it would've been 3 years. But we got 35k free upgrades on this house... so I think it's worth it. Plus we wont be paying back 8k, it'll be less than that with having a baby and everything else.

We owed the year we had Campbell because I didn't have taxes taken from my disability pay. That was zero fun.
I like to do them as soon as possible as well. My company is good about send the W-2 well before January 31st but Nick's company must freaking mail them on Jan 31 b/c we always get it late and then there's some stocks he has and we JUST got the stupid 1099 yesterday. WTH it's almost the end of Feb! I had already mailed everything to our tax guy so I faxed him that this morning.
Yeah, Mar, you should definitely call - they need to be mailing that by January 31st so you should have it by now. Tell them to get on it!
I txted my old boss yesterday. She got hers 2 weeks ago. Soooo I dunno where mine is. Eveything's getting forwarded. Maybe I should've WTF'd about this...

Girl, don't even get me started on saving for retirement! He needs to at least be putting in up the max employer match if he has that!
We're supposed to be getting money back from the feds, it was supposed to be desposited Friday, but wasn't. I called the IRS yesterday b/c the "Where's my Refund" couldn't tell me anything and they hung up on me b/c of the call volume. If I don't see it deposited this Friday I'm calling again.
I adjusted my witholdings for federal again this year. We're getting too much back and I would rather have the money in our cash flow to meet some other savings goals. (I can't tell Jerry though b/c he likes giving the govt a free loan.)

Not yet. Pulled most of it together, but need to organize my charitable contributions to make sure they're all in order.
I honestly don't know what to expect this year. Between selling the house, buying the house, renting in between (so, less mortgage interest) I am not really sure how we'll fare in deductions. I also had some decent stock losses, which should at least keep that deduction going for a few more years.
Plus, Robert made more last year than he has in probably 6 years, so that will increase our taxable burden (i get paid more than him, so i'm sure that his withholding wasn't enough to to cover our combined effective tax rate).
Honestly, our accountant could tell us we owe $10k, or could tell us we're getting $10k back, or anything in between. All a surprise!
