I need to jump start weight loss to keep me motivated to do something long term like Weight Watchers.
This diet is 17 days of veggies, lean protein, 2 servings of low sugar fruits, 2 servings of probiotic yogurt or dairy. No grains or beans, no starchy vegetables or dairy besides low fat probiotic yogurt.
It seems good for me because I'm bad with carbs but could never totally give up fruit. I also need the probiotic aspect of it.
Any recipes? I'm planning on keeping life simple with planned breakfasts of eggs and a fruit, lunch of tuna with salad, dinner grilled chicken with a steamed veggie. I reintroduce few carbs in 2.5 weeks.
So....any experiences? I get angry on no carb diets but I need to lose 30 lbs by September .
Re: Anyone do the 17 day diet?
I did it and it was a good jump start for me. But I found that after a week I had to re-read (or at least scan) the book again just to keep me motivated. It's hard when you're a carb-lover!
But it's only a couple of weeks. And after a few days you don't crave the carbs as much.
Combining sensible eating and working out harder (I started running) really made a difference for me. The elliptical and bike just weren't enough. Apparently I needed to run to shed the lbs. I lost 13 lbs before becoming pregnant and was just a few lbs away from my lean, mean wedding weight. Now... well, now I'm bulking up again but I just have to keep reminding myself it's all for the baby. And if I lost it then I can lose it again
Good luck to you!!!

I didn't do a 17 day diet - I changed the way I ate indefinitely. When I'm pregnant, I don't do it because i'm a fiend for food, but once i give birth I will go back. I pretty much do the same...I just don't eat ANY dairy at all (calcium comes from other places), I eat no grains/wheat/gluten, etc, no soy, no beans/legumes.
Pretty much, I eat meat, veggies (mostly non-starchy), nuts, etc. It's really not hard once you realize the things you CAN eat and the things you cant...oh...and I drink wine.
This is how I eat too (Paleo). I've had far too much success with weight loss to do anything else.
