I was petrified of driving down Route 128 to MA (an hour drive) - I was worried that he'd be screaming the whole way or that there would be too many crazy drivers on the road - I'm fine with crazy drivers if it is just me...but the drive went great both ways...
My grandmother, who is bed-ridden (and in her 90's) and lives with my Aunt was so happy to see Austin - it's been 5-6 months since she last saw him....he's great with strangers, but he took one look at her and started crying, tears and all - LOL!!! I don't know if it was the "nursing home" smell, her wonky hair or the pollops on her vocal cords that give her voice a raspy sound - but he was not having it!! Oh well...my Aunt and cousins got to see him and my grandmother did get to see him and I eventually got him to smile at her once he had warmed up to her a little....
Re: I brought Austin to see his great-grandmother today
That sounds like it was a worthwhile trip! Since I work in a nursing home, I often take Mason in to visit all the ladies. He definitely acts differently w/ some of them and cries or won't smile. I haven't figured out what it is that he doesn't like, but he certainly has a preference!!
FWIW, I'm sure she LOVED having you visit anyway, alot of the ladies cherish every minute they have with their grandkids!
