While I get that they're a Catholic University, I'm disappointed in this position.
Particularly at this critical time for the church... I think going insular and secular is absolutely the wrong direction on this.

I'm an alum and that's shittty. My guess would be that one or more major donors to the university raised the concern that led to cancellation.
I will say, though, that Villanova does have gay rights groups on campus that are sanctioned by the university, so it's not as though anything having to do with being gay is completely shunned. But this definitely sends a bad message.
