Tea Party Menu - help me brainstorm?

What foods would you put on or like to see on a tea party menu?

• Biscuits with jam and clotted cream

• Lemon tarts
• Cream puffs
• Different types of bars/cookies
  
• Cucumber sandwiches
• I went to one where they had shrimp cocktail and I thought that was a nice addition since I don't eat tuna or chicken salad
• Mini quiches
• Melted cheese and ham on mini croissants

There are so many mini-sandwiches out there that are good. I like ones that are on a different type of bread (such as whole wheat or something) with something slightly spicy on them.

i've been to tea rooms where they have smoked salmon on top of pieces of toast and that's really good.

Mmmm! All of that sounds delish.

This is what I found online: A traditional afternoon tea, whether an Irish tea or an English tea, will start with finger-sized sandwiches, followed by scones with butter, jam and/or cream, then an assortment of cakes and, of course, lashings of tea.

Cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches, butter and watercress sandwiches, chicken salad sandwiches and egg salad sandwiches would all be great and really easy. 

And in Wegman's British Foods section, they have some puddings, treacle and clotted cream which would be a nice addition!

I'm helping to throw a tea party this weekend, here is our menu:

finger sandwiches (cucumber, curried chicken salad, apple)

mini quiches

cheese & fruit

scones with jam & lemon curd

mini desserts (black bottoms, cheesecake, maybe lemon squares)

cupcakes

And lots of tea, of course!

Thanks, everyone! And thanks for mentioning Wegman's, EA! We have one in the area, but I don't often think about going there. It would be great to have some British treats to toss onto the spread!

So far I have:

• Quiche - not sure of flavor; not doing minis just to save myself some time/effort
  
• Crustless cucumber-dill-cream cheese sandwiches, cut small
  
• Chicken salad on croissants, mini if I can find them
• Possibly some shrimp and pasta salad in case folks don't care for the sandwiches - it's hearty enough to be a main dish - is this overkill?
  
• Fruit tray with some fluff fruit dip, a staple at any party I host
  
• Cream scones with blueberry jam, strawberry jam, lemon curd, clotted cream
• Lemon bars
• Some kind of cookie - not sure the flavor yet. Maybe two kinds with some cellophane bags so that folks can take home leftovers.
  
• Some kind of cake or cupcakes, since it's a baby shower. I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do, either flavor-wise or looks-wise.
• Tea. Of course! I need to start talking to family to borrow some teapots.
  

It's probably going to be about a dozen ladies, so I don't want to go overboard on the food, as I'm prone to do. But I also know there's some finicky eaters (not dietary restrictions, just picky) in the group, so I want to make sure to hit on a decent variety.

If you can't find them already baked, Trader Joe's has frozen mini croissants that you thaw overnight and bake in the AM.

I think that sounds like plenty, while I don't think you need the salad, I don't eat eggs or many of the sandwiches because I don't eat mayo so I personally would benefit from the salad

That sounds like a perfect great spread!

BTW I've been to that Wegman's, and the British foods are just past the produce section, where the potatoes are, and caddy corner to the area with the olive bar
